Everyone needs motivation, even myself, and it’s not a one-time fix.
Motivation, like self-discipline, requires consistent practice as both thrive on one crucial factor: ACTION!
We can think and fantasize all we want, but if we don’t take action, nothing will come of our thoughts.
Action must be taken, and that action must be consistent over time. And I’m not talking a short amount of time. Changing habits and behaviors that have been in place for 10, 20 30+ years cannot change overnight. It takes years of consistency to yield proper results that last.
The connection is clear: Consistent action yields results, and with results, staying consistent becomes a natural part of your routine.
Taking one step is all you need to start with any action. Success happens when you take that first step, followed by another step, and another step, and so on until you’re consistent with your action.
Also, perfection should never be the goal… I am always reminding myself of this as I am a natural perfectionist at heart.
So, I have three questions I’d like you to ask yourself that can profoundly transform your life, as long as you take them seriously:
- What desires do you have in life? Take a moment to ponder this question. What do you want for your body, mind, relationships, business, and life as a whole?
- What excuses are holding you back from pursuing your desires? We commonly have two reactions to any situation: 1) Making excuses, and 2) Creating reasons. Excuses hinder action and progress, while reasons propel us forward. To move forward, you must first identify your excuses and then create a reason of WHY you want to succeed.
- What, When, How? Once you’ve determined your desires and eliminated your excuses, it’s time to put your plan into action. Define WHAT you want, decide WHEN you will act, and establish a clear plan of action on HOW you will reach your goals.
Remember, this is your journey, and today is the day to start making it count!
