I wanted to talk about a sadly prevalent topic in the world today – anxiety – and help you understand the cause.
I’m not a doctor, therapist or even a psychologist (although my husband is a psychologist), but I do think I’ve got some valuable insight to share.
Anxiety is a normal, and often healthy emotion, that is commonly rooted in fear of what’s to come in the future.
It’s an emotion that is characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure (per the American Psychological Association).
It’s no wonder that anxiety is through the roof during a global pandemic, as we have less certainty than we are used to having.
If you really dig deep, you can begin to work through your anxiety by managing your thoughts.
When you feel anxious, notice the thought running through your head.
It’s your thoughts that give you certain feelings, for better or worse.
And you can bring consciousness to your thoughts that lead to negative emotions and actually begin to change your thoughts, which totally changes how you feel.
It’s pretty amazing!
So, if you’re feeling anxious and the thought around it is how you’re going to figure out homeschooling your kids and managing work during a pandemic, you can change that thought to something that serves you such as…
I’ve gotten this far in life, and I’ll get through this great growth opportunity as well.
Same situation, but you’re attributing different thoughts.
Hit reply and let me know how this sits with you.
I’m so looking forward to hearing!
